But then I came across a copy in the library, and couldn’t resist giving this a try, knowing it wouldn’t take me long to read.
Want to Read Currently Reading Read. Ian, palacjo personaje que en ocasiones narra la historia desde su punto de vista, fue uno de mis favoritos. I hated the Chowbar society members, all of them and I was more sympethtic to Jawahel -villain- but Zafon my man this thing sounded like a movie from Bollywood!
Why did he build it so weird?
I’m so in love with all of Carlos’ books. I’m quite glad I did, as The Midnight Palace is much better than its predecessor. With such a colourful cast, it rulz easy to imagine yourself in that dilapidated house and I liked how his children actually act like children, too.
Lists with This Book. The story starts with Ian, now entering old age, recalling his youth in a children’s home in Calcutta – specifically the adventures he enjoyed with a tight-knit group of fellow orphans who called themselves the Chowbar Society.
And it’s true, I wasn’t.
Highly recomended No recuerdo porque empece a leer a CRZ, pero no se que seria de mi sin sus libros. If his books are available to me, I continue to read every single one of them. Raised in an orphanage in Calcutta, Ben has relied on the support of his close knit group of friends and the kindness of the Headmaster. We get to know him very well, his interaction and friendship with his fellow orphan friends, his nightmares and fears.
The story opens with a British soldier delivering infant twins from imminent danger. Of course they’re not! It’s odd that this is supposed to be the second of a trilogy, as other than some elements of fantasy and a seemingly indestructible ‘bad guy’, it has very little in common with The Prince of Mist. Maybe it’s because I didn’t like Ben,or maybe it’s because I wasn’t particularly interested in the story. Give it a try just for his prose, if anything!

Now, a mysterious stranger calling himself Jawahal is after the twins, but Ben and his friends are determined to get to the bottom of the whole affair before anyone gets hurt. Looking at it from their eyes, it will certainly enthrall and frightening them. They were newborns from Murphy’s Library — http: The world belongs either to lunatics or hypocrites.

Carter saw himself facing the man again, he was sure Aryami was telling the truth. Since its publication, La sombra del viento has garnered critical acclaim around the world and has won numerous international awards. Un tren en llamas atraviesa la ciudad. Ben and his closely-knit group of friends, all orphans, are nearing the end of their days in the orphanage and preparing to move on to the outside world.
Explanations were given in character speech, going on for pages.
The Midnight Palace
Sometimes the difference between them is hard to see, but in the end time will show you that the cards you have been dealt could always have been worse. It had its little quirky um-where’d-that-come-from? Why did Dad kidnap Ben’s friends and tie medixnoche up? I was waiting for the time when they all sang and the book went musical! Couldn’t the author find a way to show, not tell?
The setting for the book is almost a character in and of itself as are several of the locations throughout, including the titular “Midnight Palace”. For one thing, Grandma does not want anyone telling Sheere that her father was a bad man.
Set in Calcutta in the s, The Midnight Palace begins on a dark night when an English lieutenant fights to save newborn twins Ben and Sheere from an unthinkable threat. Notwithstanding the somewhat predictable foundation of the plot and the tacky little parts scattered in the storyline, I enjoyed this caros immensely. Published July 12th by Editorial Planeta first published November 18th I also think that, aforementioned problems aside, Mr RZ definitely knows how to tell a thrilling story.
The Midnight Palace
The Midnight Palace tells us the story of the twins Ben and Sheere. That said, there were parts that were interesting, especially concerning Indian paalcio, and I enjoyed the relationships between the friends. All of them are perfect, and beautiful. I was very disappointed in this book. Like The Prince of Mistthis book was originally intended for the teen market, but the English translation is clearly being aimed more towards the author’s adult fans – again, it comes with a foreword extolling its appeal to readers of all ages.
This time, it may be impossible to escape. Medianochf realize how it can be necessary in certain situations, but most of the time, at least to me, it seems like filler.
