To th who do not know Flashman, you should be aware that there is absolutely no redeeming value to this cowardly scoundrel except for the fact that he makes no bones about the fact at least in these purported memoirs that he is an irredeemable cowardly scoundrel. Fans of the intrepid poltroon, Sir Harry Flashman, will need no introduction to the scandal and intrigue laced comedies of the late George MacDonald Fraser. Usual themes, style is all present and correct.

Whether embroiled in a plot to assassinate Emperor Franz-Josef, saving the Prince of Wales from scandal, or being chased by a horde of Zulus, Harry Flashman never disappoints. There are no sword fights, hair raising escapes, mountains of gnashing corpses, voluptuous temptresses, and all the other elements of a typical Flashman chronicle. This one is the best featuring classic Flashman action at Rorke’s Drift along with a brilliant interweaving with the Flaxhman story The Adventure of the Empty House.
